Sobre esta obra

This book, product of the talent, work and effort of faculty and researchers at the Business School, both undergraduate and EGADE Business School, and the School of Social Sciences and Government, undergraduate and School of Government and Public Transformation, addresses different dimensions of nearshoring detailed on the past, present and a future vision of globalization, as well as the geopolitical context of nearshoring and what this represents for Mexico. Strengths are identified, as well as the main challenges we must face as a country to capitalize on opportunities, present and future, in the face of the accelerated flow of foreign direct investment, derived from the process of relocating production centers to Mexico.

The book analyzes the legal scaffolding represented by the T-MEC and, with special emphasis, its Chapter 20 on intellectual property, as well as the potential of Mexican states to attract foreign direct investment, derived from nearshoring, in certain sectors and subsectors.

The book presents an overview on the investment potential in Mexico for venture capital, as well as an analysis of MNCs’ contribution to the scientific and technological capabilities of the innovation system in Mexico, a fundamental aspect in configuring global value chains. In the book the institutional conditions of Mexico are also assessed for their determining role in attracting foreign direct investment.

The book presents an analysis of Mexico’s logistics capabilities, as well as an assessment of the state of the electricity sector in the country in the face of the impending wave of new investments, a product of nearshoring. The book culminates with the identification of some criteria for making decisions on talent management policies and practices to overcome the challenges imposed by nearshoring, in a holistic and public policy-aligned manner that promotes progress within order and social welfare.
