Sobre esta obra
This material is an important input within the guiding documents for the academic, pedagogical, and didactic work of the students of a basic course of Genetics. It contains the concepts, generalities, and applications of basic genetics in agricultural sciences and is a pedagogical tool for the students’ study of the School of Agricultural, Animal, and Environmental Sciences who take this course as a basic common course in the programs that include it in their curriculum or as an elective course in the other programs where it is not contemplated. This material develops and makes special emphasis on contents of the basic genetics area and the management of the concept of genetics, cell, cell cycle, DNA, RNA, and gene. Likewise, it states and exemplifies the models of Mendelian and non-Mendelian genetics and basic notions of some statistics used in basic genetics. Other topics such as mutations, chromosomal abnormalities, linkage or genetic mapping are not mentioned since these, under the internal coherence of courses offered at the university, are part of the breeding course and developed in great depth there.
