El conocimiento y la comprensión de una realidad social en su real magnitud pueden ser más profundos y amplios si nos sumergimos en el tiempo y ubicamos, en los diversos planos del pasado, las líneas fundamentales de los procesos de la cultura. La memoria metodológica actúa selectivamente, y sitúa, en el entramado del pasado, aquello que permite un mayor conocimiento del mismo. Este número está dedicado al estudio de algunos aspectos significativos sobre el terreno de la cultura de la historia del Perú, fundamentalmente del siglo XIX. Ya que la fecha del bicentenario de nuestra república está cerca a conmemorarse y sirve de ocasión para invitarnos a reflexionar sobre el Perú, asumiéndolo como un objeto de teorización y de permanente descubrimiento. Así, los autores entienden por modernidad el periodo que empieza con el nacimiento de la república peruana y, por humanismo, las distintas manifestaciones que se han dado en nuestro país para animar y renovar su experiencia colectiva de coexistencia y comunicación. The knowledge and understanding of a social reality in its real magnitude can be deeper and broader if we immerse ourselves in time and locate, in the various stages of the past, the fundamental lines of the processes of culture. The methodological memory acts selectively and places, in the framework of the past, those items that allow a greater knowledge of the past. This issue is dedicated to the study of some significant aspects of the culture of the history of Peru –mainly from the 19th century–, since the date of the bicentennial of our republic is close to being commemorated and it serves as an occasion to invite us to reflect on Peru, assuming it as an object of theorization and permanent discovery. In this way, the authors understand by modernity the period that begins with the birth of the Peruvian Republic and, by humanism, the different manifestations that have occurred in our country to animate and renew its collective experience of coexistence and communication.
