More Than a Wall / Más que un muro

David Bacon’s book constitutes a significant contribution to our knowledge of the border between Mexico and the United States, probably the most studied in the world. His images and words compel us to see the myriad of details that make up a large part of the social life in this region. And while his photographs largely revolve around the ominous presence of the wall that separates the two nations, they also lead us, paradoxically, to perceive the reality that exists beyond this barrier of rusty bars and border fencing. His photographic images bring us closer to understanding the experiences of entire communities that have made this border region their
home, their land, and their place of work.

De ahí que sus imágenes y textos nos obligan a ver la miríada de detalles que comprenden mucho de la vida social de esta región fronteriza. Y si bien sus fotografías pasan en buena medida por la presencia ominosa del muro que separa a ambas naciones, también nos conducen, paradójicamente, a darnos cuenta de todo lo que existe más allá del muro de herrumbrosas paredes y cercas fronterizas.
